The fashion industry is the second largest polluter in the world, second only to oil. It contributes to unsafe working conditions and unfair wages worldwide. Most people who love fashion are unaware of the negative impact, and those that are aware find it extremely difficult to find stylish apparel that is ethically made and contributes positively to our planet and its people.

My boutique offers a unique selection of on-trend styles and everyday items from familiar brands, alongside of ecofriendly, ethically made, and local artist items to both retain the interest based in fashion while developing customer awareness of the fashion industry and its methods. I provide items with a means to make a positive impact both locally and globally. By offering a broader selection of accessories which includes home and gift items, we can extend our values to a wide range of products thereby reaching customers who may not be shopping for women’s apparel.

After 8 years working as a professional wardrobe stylist, I moved back to my hometown of Lancaster and opened Sophie Stargazer Boutique in 2013, fulfilling a lifelong dream. I frequently host trunkshows for local artists, a meet-the-maker series for regional designers, First Friday events, private parties and more, and have become involved with several community organizations. Over the last three years, I have established a strong customer base and have been able to prove customer interest in ethically-made and local artist goods. I am eager to participate in additional outreach programs within the community, and pivot my business in such a way that can facilitate discussion and understanding of the fashion industry, while empowering customers to look their best and feel good about their purchases.
