For Mary Beth, thriving as a single mother took more than just strength, it took determination. Lacking access to a car, she relied on the bus to take her son to childcare, and then on to work at Career Link. Through Wheels to Work\u2014a program started with a grant from the Community Foundation\u2014Mary Beth gained access to a vehicle, and in doing so was able to keep her job, maintain stability for her children, and even take them to the beach for the \ufb01rst time.<\/p>\n
From there, Mary Beth committed to taking part in the Atlas Initiative in Columbia, a Community Foundation-funded program by the Community Action Program of Lancaster to help low-income individuals attain their goals. Through her hard work and commitment<\/p>\n
to the sustainability of herself and her children, Mary Beth thrived on opportunity, showing that success is more than strength.
